AT&T 3G: No Worky? July 6th 2010

July 7th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in New Media, Technology

In a July 7th 2010 article AT&T admits that iPhone 4 users have been susceptible to slower speeds due to a programming issue with back hardware in certain areas of the US.

“”AT&T and Alcatel-Lucent jointly identified a software defect — triggered under certain conditions – that impacted uplink performance for Laptop Connect and smartphone customers using 3G HSUPA-capable wireless devices in markets with Alcatel-Lucent equipment,” said Jenny Bridges, a spokeswoman for the company.

Since the iPhone is currently the only smartphone that AT&T offers that is using HSUPA, AT&T said that the problem only affects a small number of its wireless customers, which includes some laptop data sticks users, who also use the HSUPA technology.” — taken from CNET article July 7th 2010

My girlfriend (Jessica L. Titus) and I were at the Apple Store in Leawood, KS on July 6th 2010 trying out the AT&T based iPhone 4 and found that we couldn’t connect to anything internet based without the help of wifi. We tried the app store, itunes store, pandora and many other web based apps on the iPhone 4. Without a good connection to AT&T’s 3G we pretty much found the iPhone 4 useless for anything other then text messages. At iPhone 4′s $199 and $299 subsistized pricing and based on a unlimited AT&T plan running at over $100 a month texting is expensive!

We made a little video of our experiences with the iPhone 4 and AT&T’s lack luster service found here:

Slow Blog Day

December 28th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in New Media, Photography, slow blog day

You know how sometimes in the new biz they say they are having a slow news day? Welp, I am having a Slow Blog Day so I decided to dust off this old arse video of me eating a chip about 9 years ago. This was proly one of the 1st videos that I ever took of myself on a webcam that I was testing out to deploy at some stores that I managed.

Also, I was messing around with photoshop and a picture of the truck I use at work and made this! Enjoy!

LogMeIn iPhone App – Reviewed by David A. Poe

December 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in General, New Media, Technology, iphone

In this video I review the LogMeIn.com LogMeIn app for the iphone. Overall the app is very useful and will be a very handy tool for me. The LogMeIn iPhone app does have a bit of a memory issue and the app has crashed several times as well as locked my iPhone up once. I do think that despite these issues the app is well worth the $29.99 price tag. I hope to see LogMeIn improve on this already great app!

One Hundred Push Ups – Day 1 / Week 1

September 11th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in New Media, Photography

I started this “program” called one hundred push ups, seen on the site hundredpushups.com yesterday September 10th 2008. The program is explained at the beginning of this video or you can see it explained on the site (linked above). If you haven’t seen or started this program I recommend that you do!

This video is me starting the program Day 1 of Week 1.

Taking video while I was doing these push ups has show me that my form is horrible. In my head I thought my form was great! But seeing it on video, I realize that my butt is kinda pushed up in the air which isn’t proper form for a push up. I would recommend that you video your work outs (hundred push ups program or not) to watch your form and see if you are doing your exercises correctly. You don’t have to publish it for the world to see like I did. :)

Flickr boggles my mind!

September 3rd, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in New Media, Photography

I have been on Flickr since September 2006 and I just have to say that Flickr boggles my mind! Why do you say this you might ask? I feel that I am a decent very amateur photographer and when I started flickr I would only post what I would consider some of my best photography work. Recently, I started post photos of what I would consider lesser quality in content and framing and many that pertain to the trucking business. What boggles my mind is that one “lesser quality” picture of mine has more views then all of my “better” photos combined.

Examples:

Musee d'Orsay
13 total views

SNI white trailer!
794 views! WTC (what the crap)

– Need more?

34145 Truck Pix SNI
489 views

Ice Storm KC 01-02 KC
26 views

I will keep posting pictures of all qualities, but I just find it funny that certain photos that I figured would do better aren’t doing so great and photos that I figured wouldn’t do good are doing mind boggling Flickr good!

Launching a new site cookingsingle.tv soon!

August 20th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Food, Gardening, General, New Media

I have had a passion for food for as long as I can remember and have always enjoyed cooking and sharing with others. With all the great new media things going on today on the web, a door has opened and giving me the opportunity to create a show and teach my passion to you! Cookingsingle.tv has been an idea floating around in my head for over a year now. I have just simply put the idea on the shelf of procrastination and have done very little with it until now.

I am happy to announce that I recorded my 1st video, or show, or whatever tonight! I still need to work on the cookingsingle.tv site, so there is no need to hurry over there, as there is nothing to see. But, if you want a sample of what you will see there, below is my 1st video.

It seems that everything on the internetz needs to be like three minute videos or else no one will watch them. Three minute videos aren’t an option in my mind for a proper cooking show. I am going to do my best to keep each show at about fifteen minutes. This show is at 15:44, but I think it’s a needed and relevant fifteen minutes. A friend of mine suggested that I cut out the washing the chicken part to save time. I agree. Please look for other areas that you think I could cut and fill with more relevant content.

So, if you have sixteen extra minutes, please watch the video and let me know what you think! Thanks for you time!
